These are some basic reviews of the venues that I have carp fished
Here I will give reviews of the venues that I have carp fished so that you can have an honest view of what these venues are like from an average carp fisherman.

Pine Pool: Kingsbury Water Park
This is the venue that I fished for most of last year. It is where I landed my personal best of 21lb 11oz. It is a good venue but if it is on a bad day then there are not normally any catches. Although if you go on a good day you can catch anything up to ten of its 250 residents. It is a 9 acre lake with two islands. The best swims that I have found are at the back where it is shallower in the summer and to the left of the car park in the winter as this area is generally deeper. The island swims are usually a good bet if the water is producing. The reeds in the bay to the left of the car park can produce as well.
  Station Pool: Lavender Hall
Normally I coarse fish this venue but I thought I would give it a try on the specimen front. Everyone else on the lake was using poles and maggots but I put a boilie on and about half an hour after casting I had a take which resulted in a 5lb mirror. I was quite pleased with this as no one else on the lake had caught a carp. Later in the day I caught a 7lb ghostie off the top on a boilie. This demonstrated to me that there are times when a specimen approach can out fish matchmen, despite the usual view.

Beaver Pool Water Orton
I have now fished this venue and although not the most productive days fishing that I have ever had there are certainly fish in there! I had three runs during the day that I spent there. The day had been uneventful but for some mad reason I switched baits to pepperami which I was informed is a good bait there and it seemed to switch the fish on. Worth noting if you fish there (if you can manage not to eat it all yourself!). The swim me and Neil fished was near the end of the lake and we casted single baits to the bushes on the far side. The swims at the top end require a good cast so if you do fish it distance gear is advisible. I havent fished the other end of the lake but it looked quite appealing with overhanging trees and gravel bars everywhere. I will try to add to this when I know more but for now this will have to do.

Penns Hall
Although I have only fished this venue once, I was very impressed with the fishing. In the 24 hour session me and Neil did here we had 3 runs between us, which was a good result since the venue hadn't produced a fish for two weeks at the time. We fished the swim on the island with the willlow tree. We had the first two runs within 10 minutes of each other at 9pm. I lost the first fish but I landed the second at 13lb exactly. At 9.00 the next morning Neils rod went off while he was on the other side of the lake and I had to hit it. He came back around in time to land a personal best 17lb common. All in all this is a very good venue from my experience and I will be returning soon
